Step 2 - E-learning & Self-Study (Course Notes will be provided)

Step 3 - Practice on your own (Assessment Sheet will be provided)

Step 4 - Online Video Submission(s)

Step 5 - A Certifier evaluates your submission. Your scorecard will be sent to you, together with feedback from your Certifier

ASSISTANT PROFESSIONAL DOG GROOMER

Level 1

As an Assistant Groomer, you will be expected to be able to handle Basic Grooming duties such as

  • the cutting of nails

  • trimming the paws

  • cleaning of ears

  • brushing out the coat thoroughly

  • showering & drying (Fluff Drying & Force Drying)

 

You will also need to know basic cat care knowledge such as

  • parasites - protection and treatment

 

You will need to demonstrate competency for the following 2 breeds​​

  1. Any Curly Coated Dog - Eg. Poodle & Crosses, etc

  2. Any Double Coated Dog - Eg. Corgi, Husky, Golden Retriever, etc

 

This is a Video Submission Assessment. You will be assessed on your technical skills as well as your handling skills.

PROFESSIONAL DOG GROOMER

Level 2

As a Professional Dog Groomer, you will be expected to be able to execute haircuts for any breed of dog. You will need to demonstrate competency for the following 8 haircuts

  1. Bald - For the Single Coated Dog (Poodle/Maltese/Shihtzu)

  2. Summer Cut - For the Double Coated Dog (Golden Retriever/Border Collie)

  3. Summer Cut - For the Curly Coated Dog (Poodle/Poodle-Mix)

  4. Summer Cut - For the Straight Coated Dog (Maltese/Shihtzu/Yorkshire Terrier)

  5. The Natural Dog (Full Scissoring a Golden Retriever/Border Collie)

  6. The Fluffy Dog (Full Scissoring a Pomeranian/Japanese Spitz/Samoyed)

  7. Specialty Cut (Choose 1)

    • Boo Cut for a Pomeranian

    • Full Scissoring for a Poodle/Poodle-mix

  8. Traditional Cut (Choose 1)

    • Westie Cut

    • Yorkshire Cut

    • Schnauzer Cut

    • Cocker Cut

You will also need to know advanced dog care knowledge such as

  • ringworm - what is is and how to deal with it

  • signs of stress - what they are and how to deal with it

  • working with the vet

You will have to demonstrate

  • advanced handling skills

  • adequate scissoring & clipper skills

This is a Video Submission Assessment. You will be assessed on your technical skills as well as your handling skills. 

Assessment Fee: $900

*Pre-Requisite:

  • Completion of Level 1

PROFESSIONAL DOG GROOMING TRAINER

Level 3

As a Professional Dog Grooming Trainer, you will be expected to be able to teach a Level 1 and Level 2 course.

You will have to demonstrate

  • excellent technical skills

  • excellent handling skills

  • excellent communication skills

This is a Video Submission Assessment. You will be assessed on your technical skills as well as your handling skills. 

Assessment Fee: $500

*Pre-Requisite:

  • Completion of Levels 1 & 2

  • at least 2 years of relevant working experience

PROFESSIONAL DOG GROOMING CERTIFIER

Level 4

As a Professional Dog Grooming Certifier, you will be expected to be able to assess a groomer’s work fairly and give constructive feedback, for both Levels 1 and 2.

You will have to demonstrate

  • excellent communication skills

  • fair judgement

This is a Video Submission Assessment. You will be assessed on your technical skills as well as your handling skills. 

Assessment Fee: $300

*Pre-Requisite:

  • Completion of Levels 1 to 3

  • Guided at least 5 students/trainees who have completed Level 1

  • Guided at least 2 students/trainees who have completed Level 2
